new book on provenance research

David Pearson (Victoria and ALbert Museum) has a book out in the British 
Library series Studies in the History of the Book entitled Provenance 
Research in Book History.  The volume is a reference handbook of the various 
sources and resources in libraries and public and private records for 
tracing ownership, origins and provenance of early printed books in the 
British Isles.  It includes chapters on physical evidence such as ciphers, 
monograms, distinctive tools, etc. and such records as sale catalogues and 
library records (where and what they are, computerized, on cards, in scrap-
books, etc.).  326 pgs. published 1994 by the British Library, isbn 
0-7123-0344-8  If these are your problems, this is your book.
