Re: medieval English endbands

A quite lovely book on endbands not mentioned by Peter is "Les
Tranchefiles Brodees: Etude historique et technique" published by the
Bibliotheque Nationale in 1989. ISBN 2-7177-1796-X. It has color
photos of historical endbands with color illustrations about how they
were made. Although instructions are in French, it does seems to me
to be the case that one needs not know French to use this book as the
illustrations are quite clear in each type illustrated.
