Paper Marbling Workshop in NY city



If you live, work or are visiting in New York City this week, you might be
interested in the following announcement recently included in the Guild of
BookWorkers New York Chapter Newsletter:

"We are pleased to announce tha Iris Nevins will conduct a workshop:  "An
Introductory Workshop in Traditional Watercolor Paper Marbling"...Friday,
November 22, from 10:00am. until 4:00pm...at the New York Academy of
Medicine, 1216 Fifth Avenue at 103rd. St.  Basic techniques will be taught,
as well as a variety of traditional patterns.  Students will be able to leave
class with a stack of their own papers, suitable for bookbinding and other
projects.  The workshop is limited to 10 participants.  The fee is $50, and
$15 for materials.

Iris Nevins has been a professional marbler for the past 18 1/2 years.  She
marbles in the traditional water based manner in use for many centuries.  Her
specialty is recreating early papers.  She has written four instructional
manuals on the art of marbling...and teaches at a number of locations in New
York and New Jersey...Please call Solveig Schumann at (212) 822-7363 for more

the workshop at present.
