A workshop by Dan Carr

at the San Francisco Center for the Book

Typographic punchcutting is the foundation of the art of printing.  In a
one-day workshop Dan Carr will demonstrate the basic method of cutting a
punch by hand as practiced at the historic Imprimerie Nationale in Paris.
The technique is the result of 350 years of  continuous tradition, yet is
simple and capable of accuracy and precision.  Bring a notebook to sketch
key techniques.
Class size limited to 10 (so sign up early)

Dan Carr, co-proprietor of Golgonooza Letter Foundry designs, composes and
prints limited edition and artists' books for publishers throughout the
country. He has designed new typefaces which are issued by Golgonooza in
digital and handcut forms. Dan is also an accomplished poet. He lives in
New Hampshire.
