Re: Book Press vs Copy Press

It is easy to convert one type of copy press into a book press. Loosen the
two nuts or the two bolts which hold the U-shaped frame to the base. If
there are two threaded holes in the bottom of the frame and if they are a
standard thread you are in luck. Buy two pieces of all-thread steel at a
hardware store. Usually these are three feet long. Cut two pieces of 1" or
1 1/4" pipe so that they are three inches shorter than the all-thread. Screw
the all-thread into the frame, slide on the pipe, and reassemble the base.
A competent machinist could, of course, do this job even if the
thread is non-standard.
