Beat-era poets Diane DiPrima and Saul White will read at the San Francisco
Center for the Book Saturday, July 12 at 4 pm, as part of the Center's
unique Poets Pulling Prints series.

The poets will sign commemorative broadsides -- designed by Felicia Rice
and Kathleen Burch -- printed at the Center for the occasion. White's
reading will feature jazz accompaniment by the King Perkoff Band. Saul
White, artist and poet, of Venice Beach, California, has been performing
spoken word to be-bop accompaniment since the fifties, and he is something
else to see in person. Kush, the film archivist, has pronounced this event
to be yet another historic occasion at the SF Center for the Book.

The San Francisco Center for the Book was formed in 1996, and aims to
further all the arts of the book through classes, readings, lectures and
exhibitions.
