Re: Southern California events



On Saturday 15 November, A Midwestern Printer in L.A. opens at Artworks at
Bergamot Station with the exhibition of books produced by Gerald Lange,
including the recent Bieler Press ublication, The Neolithic Adventures of
Tafi-mai Metallu-mai: How the First Letter was Written and How the Alphabet
was Made, Just So Stories by Rudyard Kipling, plus a preview of the
forthcoming Wild Parrots and the King of La Brea.  The opening is from 2 - 5
p.m. at 2525 Michigan Ave., T-2, Santa Monica, CA.

On 23 November, Women of the Book: Jewish Artists, Jewish Themes, opens at
the Finegood Art Gallery with a panel discussion at 1:30 p.m. on "What it
Means to be a Jewish Woman in the Visual Arts in in the 1990s" with the
participation of some of the artists in the show such as Ruth Weisberg,
Gayle Wimmer, Helen Schamroth from New Zealand, and others.  The exhibition
opens at 3 pm. with a reception from 3- 5 pm.

On 7 December 1997, there are two events:
Walk-through with the Curator, Judith  A. Hoffberg, at the Finegood Art
Gallery, 22622  Vanowen St., West Hills, CA 91307, from 1 - 3 p.m.  The
Finegood Art Gallery can be reached by getting off the Ventura Freeway
(west) on Shoup (the ramp after Topanga Canyon) and going right on Shoup and
then left on Vanowen to the Milken Jewish Community Center building.

Also on 7 December:
A joint meeting between the San Diego Book  Arts Group and the Artist Book
Circle at the Long Beach Museum of Art at 2 p.m.  A show-and-tell on the
part of all participants will make it a lively afternoon.
