Sorry if this is a repetition of an answer already given.

Crossed-structure bindings are described by Carmencho Arregui in The New
Bookbinder, vol 14, 1994, pp 101 - 107.
Lepporello binding seems to be connected to the character of the same name
in the opera Don Giovanni.  He evidently kept the records of conquests of
the amourous libraian in an accordian style binding.
