Living Treasures of the Newberry Library: from Papyrus to PC

A spectacular exhibit of some of the Newberry's treasures, from the ordinary
(Shakespeare's first folio with portrait, a 1st edition of Alice in
Wonderland) to the extraordinary (the urtext of the Quiche Mayan Popul Vuh,
Malcolm X's Pullman Company employment card, the wood engravings for The
Nursery Alice) and everything in between.

This Saturday, May 9 at 11 a.m. Paul Gehl, curator of the Wing Foundation,
will give a lecture entitled "Clay Tablets to Artist's Books: A Short History
of the Written Word." Admission is free. Other special events & lectures will
