SGC 99 Conference

The 27th conference of the Southern Graphics Council is being held next
March at Arizona State University in Tempe, March 17-21, 1999. The
printmakers of ASU invite you all to come for five days of printmakers' fun
in the balmy desert Spring.

The theme of this year's conference is "Printmakers' Charge! Promoting
Responsibility and a Call to Arms." Activities include 14 panel
discussions on a wide variety of subjects, from "Social Activism in 20th C.
Printmaking" to "Book Arts in the 90s" to "Appropriated Images and the
Collage Aesthetic" to "Digital Media for Prints and Multiples" to
Printmaking Education, Printmaking Businesses, and Printmaking Health &
Safety. There will be 23 demonstrations including low-tech photo intaglio,
3-D printmaking, book structures for printmakers, water-based litho inks,
stenciled paper pulp for printmaking, collotype, monotype, stratography on
the Vandercook, polymer plates for relief or intaglio, and more. Fourteen
exhibitions of prints are guaranteed to stimulate your printmaking senses,
including a wonderful exhibit of Printmakers' Artist's Books. And then
there is the flavor of Southwestern food and the warmth of the Southwestern
sun.
