MARBLING WORKSHOP



   A SALTWINDS YANKEE BARN WORKSHOP   -   1999

 DATES:  JUNE 21 - 24    9am - 4 pm  plus open studio

            GALEN BERRY, internationally known master marbler, will be coming to
the East Coast to present his acclaimed workshop featuring marbling on
fabric as well as paper. He will teach the Thistle, Birdwing, Swirl,
Italian Vein, Ripple, Stone marbles, Overmarbling and later in the
workshop, the Moire,
Fantasy Wave, and Antique patterns. These may be seen in the Daniel Smith
art materials catalog ( a special article features Galen in the December 1997
issue.)  All materials will be supplied.

            After 3 days of marbling with Galen, the students will be shown
how to bind their colorful marbled papers into beautiful sample books for
future reference or to use as gifts.

             Galen has studied at the Sorbonne in Paris and graduated from
UCLA. He has been a full time marbler for over 12 years and his marbled
papers have been included in the collections of the Smithsonian and the
Library of Congress. Many art suppliers and  museum shops offer his work to
artists and collectors.  Galen has taught over 3000 students since 1985 and
encourages
all ages from teens on up to try their hand at the art of water-based
marbling.

The workshop fee includes continental breakfast and lunch. There are a limited
number of on site rooms available.
