                          NEW YORK CHAPTER


                  "ITC Caslon: An Authentic Revival"


The New York Chapter of the American Printing History Association invites
you to its May meeting, Wednesday, 5 May, at 6:00 p.m. at The Grolier
Club, 47 East 60th Street, New York City.  Justin Howes will speak on the
history of Caslon Old Face and the International Typeface Corporation's
digital revival of the original types based on scannings of type specimens
in the St. Bride Printing Library, London.

Justin Howes, typographer, scholar and aspirant printer, co-edited the
1986 edition of Edward Johnston's "Lessons in Formal Writing," and he is
completing two further works on Johnston.  He is Chairman of the European
Friends of St. Bride Printing Library <http://stbride.org> and Registrar
of the Type Museum, London, where he was responsible for acquiring the
Stephenson Blake archive.
