Speckled Edges

You may use stiff tooth brush and any pigment wash (ink, water color,
gouache, acrylic). Mask the area you are working in with waste paper and
also make sure that your text block is well protected from pigment as
well. You can use finishing press to clamp your book, or job backer, or
even bricks and boards. If you want fine universal sprinkles use netted
screen. Use your thumb to move the bristles of the tooth brush (dipped
in color wash) to sprinkle your edge. Try on clamped stack of papers
first and play with the distance you are holding your brush at.

Good luck!
