journals, wedding journals, dream journals, artist sketchbooks, journals as
art, etc. The techniques of journal keeping with be explored with examples,
descriptions & samples. There will be a bibliography, resource appendix, a
gallery of journal books and a contributing artist list.

ARTIST CALL - An open call to artists
The following are requested for submission:

Journals and diaries with specific themes
Journals, diaries, artist sketchbooks, journals-as-art, trip & travel
journals, garden journals, sewing journals and other topical journals are
requested containing journal keeping techniques such as collage,
calligraphy, image transfers, photo manipulation, rubber stamping
(including eraser carving), etc. Journal submissions should focus on book &
page design as well as written entries, and all types of journals will be
considered including themed journals not described above, historical
journals and books created specifically for this project.

        Journal Keeping Techniques
Do you have a special technique for journal keeping you would like to
share? The techniques section will contain examples and techniques specific
to journal keeping along with Questions & Answers with submitting artists.
If you're expert in a topic relating to journal keeping please note it
along with your submission. Techniques must be submitted as part of
journals or diaries or within blank books.

Journals & Diaries for the book gallery portion of the publication
There will be a visual gallery of artist books devoted to journals, diaries
and artist sketchbooks. We're looking for any type of book falling under
the category of diary or journal to be juried for this section.

For more information please visit the following links:

This page contains the information you'll need concerning the project as
well as an application to jury. You may also request a mailed application,
though it's a reprint of what appears on this website so if you can print
from your browser please do so.

http://www.rockpub.com
Rockport is an exciting publisher of arts and architecture and craft books
and have created some wonderful how-to books. (They recently published
"Making Memory Books By Hand" by Kristina Feliciano)

This is a great opportunity to get your journal, diary, artist sketchbook,
book-art published, or to assist in exploring a specific journal / diary
keeping technique. Creating a journal just for this project is acceptable
and we're specifically looking for artists willing to work on certain
journal keeping techniques. See the website for more information.

(Simply put, in a sentence there are three 'levels' of participation:
EASIEST: Submitting a book for the Artist Gallery section; INVOLVED:
Creating a specific themed journal for the journal themes section;
COLLABORATIVE: Presenting step-by-step instructions for a specific journal
keeping technique along with submitting a journal or diary. )

Please don't hesitate to eMail me with any questions you might have. I will
post this on a few other mailing lists - sorry in advance if you see this
more than once...

Thanks for reading!

Regards,

Jason Thompson
