deacidification spray?

Does anyone know what the active ingredients are in these sprays? Couldn't it
be brushed on -- or simply put it a push top spray bottle? Would probably be a
lot cheaper and a lot more useful that way. Aerosol cans are handy -- but in
my opinion way overused. In lots of applications -- old fashioned brushes work
better.
