³Bound to be a Book²

Bookbinding Summer School

The book is a viable visual medium that can provide links and meeting points
between many art disciplines such as print, painting and sculpture. It is
perhaps the most intimate,easily accessible and portable of all the art
forms. In this intensive five day course both traditional and unorthodox
bookbinding structures will be taught. Participants will use a variety of
materials and techniques. The course is designed to be appropriate for
people with or without previous experience.

³Exploring Photoshop²

Waterbased Screenprinting Summer School

This course is specifically designed to help artists, printmakers and
teachers to fully explore the screen print medium through the potential of
computer aided and manipulated image. There is specialist help provided in
both computer applications and screen printing technology.The workshop will
offer you the opportunity to produce multi-coloured images in various sizes.
The combination of photographic and hand rendered image making will also be
explored.

³Drawing Stones²

Stone Lithography Summer School

Numbers on this course are limited so we intend to tailor the process around
each artists¹ work and concepts. The course offers demonstration,tutorial
and studio support. It will cover all areas of direct stone process,offset
plate process,transfer and photographic plates.

³Fast Exposure²

Etching/Photomechanical Summer School

This intensive five day course will enable the participant to combine direct
photographic intaglio method (neg jet) with more traditional etching
techniques. Hardground, aquatint, sugarlift and spit-biting can be used if
appropriate, to create single and multi-plate images in both monochrome and
colour. Through individual tutorial and studio support on a one to one
basis, you will have the opportunity to produce finished artwork to a high
professional standard. The course is designed to be appropriate for people
with or without previous experience.

³Beyond the Surface²

Relief Printing Summer School

Through this course we aim to explore the many aspects of relief printmaking
and introduce the essential strategies and thinking necessary to use the
process to its full potential. Using monoprint as an introduction to the
possibilities of relief printmaking, we then move to linoleum and woodcut.
The course will cover both monochrome and colour relief printing and is
designed to suit people with or without previous experience.

³Splitting Images²

Textile Printing Summer School

This course is designed to introduce you to screenprinting on fabric.
Combining simple stencil techniques with more sophisticated direct coated,
sensitive emulsion, exciting results can be achieved. The course will
explore various methods of markmaking, textures and monoprinting techniques,
using water-based pigment dyes, in order to produce a rich variety of vivid
colour. The five day course offers you the chance of producing images on
paper, fabric and even personalised T-shirts. Although primarily for
beginners, this course offers opportunities at all levels of artistic
background and abilities.

With quality of content and teaching in mind all courses have been designed
with low student to staff teaching ratios.
