Re: Print Gocco

Congratulations on your Gocco. I have had one for about a year, and it's
been a blast. My answer to your questions:

1) I use plain-ole mineral spirits to clean my masters. You can get it at
any hardware store. Works fine, doesn't seem to bother the master.

2) I've never worn out a master. If you clean it after each use, and are
careful with the cardboard frame and the screen, it should last
indefinitely.

3) I live on the East Coast, can't help you with workshops in LA. However,
Claire Russell has written "The New Gocco Guide", which you can order off
her website, along with Gocco supplies at www.thinkink.net

For master storage, I use a manilla envelope (I have the 5x7 Gocco, and use
6x9 envelopes). The first time I use a master, I print the design on the
front of the manilla envelope, and put the clean master in the envelope for
storage.

Have fun!

Best,

Subject: Print Gocco

I had been deleting gocco-related messages left and right, because I
simply didn't know what it was. Then Friday my boyfriend gave me one he
picked up on a business trip and I am FULL of questions. After looking
through the Book Arts-L archives, these are the questions I still have:

1. I am planning to order the cleaner online as we couldn't find it in a
local store. Is there any other method people use to clean and store
their masters? I understand the ink is oil-based - is this correct?

2. I'd like to know what I can do to prolong the life of my masters.
How long can I reasonably expect a master to last if I take good care of
it?

3. Is there anyone in the Los Angeles area who gives workshops/classes
using the Print Gocco?

Thanks for any suggestions you have. I am so pleased to have found this
group. The information is invaluable!

Kara
