A Number 4 can be moved on a pickup truck. No need for a Johnson bar -- you
need an 8 foot 2x4 and pry on edge and scoot the press along the floor to the
door. Slide the press on a layer of washing up soap - dish soap. To get over
a threshold use some short 1 inch or so thick wood - like plywood and slowly
raise the press and slide legs over the plywood. You can gain lift by using
short chunks of wood under the 2x4. Take everything slowly. To get the press
on a pickup call a wrecker and put nylon straps under the four corners of the
press. Do make sure cylinder is made fast. Test life. Then lift press and
back truck slowly under the press. Put press diagonal on the bed for
stability. It will react better to turns and stopping. Tie the press but do
block all four sides with scrap wood and old tires. Cover motor with plastic.
Smear cylinder and bed with grease. Do remove tympan. No need to cover whole
press with tarp or plastic. Good luck with move !
