Oregon Book Arts Guild Conference 2001

The Oregon Book Arts Guild is pleased to announce the Biennial Focus
Conference for 2001
UNFOLDING THE CUTTING EDGE

July 11-15, 2001, Lewis & Clark College, Portland, Oregon

The conference features classes, evening lectures, trade show, artist sale,
exhibitions, shopping tours and playtime!

The four days of classes will examine all the new materials & methods
available to book artists today. The skill levels cover from beginner to
advanced; from half-day to 2-day classes. One can choose from taking just
one class or attending the whole conference.

Other events will be held in conjunction with the classes. Evening events
include the opening lecture by Carol Barton on Wednesday and the keynote
address on Thursday by Julie Chen, a book artist & teacher for the past 12
years. She publishes limited edition books under the Flying Fish Press
imprint and teaches book arts at Mills College in California. Saturday
Hospitality Evening is a chance for participants to show their work,
exchange conference mementos and see old friends & make new friends with a
gathering of book lovers from not only across the country but around the
world!

There will be stores on campus as well. The Trade Show (July 11-14) will
feature what's new in tools & materials from book arts suppliers and give
attendees the chance to see with their own eyes the items that are so often
only available in catalogs. The In Focus Store will be open the entire
conference and will feature work of book artists.

The Faculty & Staff Show will also be held on campus and will exhibit the
inspiring work of the very talented instructors teaching at the conference.

The lovely Lewis & Clark campus is in the southwest hills of Portland,
Oregon. Dormitory space on campus is available directly across the street
from all of the classes and events, as well as the dining facility. Public
transportation goes to the campus with easy access to downtown Portland.
For those driving, parking is available on campus.
