Re: Book Arts in Spain?



When in Barcelona take the local train to Girona/Gerona. Head for the
Cathedral, which has a Treasury, which displays among other mss. a copy
of the Beatus of Liebana, dated 975 and ascribed to "Ende, pintrix."
It's the first known work by a woman artist in Europe. Girona/Gedrona
is well worth the visit, anyhow.

And don't forget to bring your camera, because you might run across a
medieval wooden pattern for laying out stained-glass windows - I think
it's in the Diocesan Museum, next to the Cathedral. A slide or glossy
would be much appreciated by yours, truly,
