There are various photopolymers & manufacturers, and plates can be produced with
metal backing or otherwise, and of various durometer (hardness) from "rubbery",
which is bent around cylinders for flexographic printing, often on web presses,
to extremely hard for creating impression in the paper, which is used on
everything from platen presses to proof presses like Vandercooks to flatbed
cyliner presses, where the type or plate goes on a flat bed and the sheet-fed
paper goes around a cylinder, as in the Heidelberg presses used at places like
Steinhour Press in Vermont .
