Hi all,
Those of you in the Portland, OR, area may be interested in the following
lecture this Friday:
Thomas Ingmire will give a free slide lecture focusing on his latest
project: a commissioned modern manuscript featuring Canto V of Dante's
"Inferno." Ingmire has designed and
created a work blending the traditional crafts of calligraphy,
illumination, papermaking, letterpress printing and hand bookbinding. His
talk, sponsored by the Portland Society for Calligraphy, will be at 7 p.m.
Friday, Oct. 26, at PCC's Sylvania campus, room HT223.
The theme of the book, on every level, confronts the issue of synthesizing
the old with the new, and the traditional with the modern. Ingmire will
discuss his research, the conceptual development of the book, and the
various technical struggles that emerged in the creation process.

Thanks.
Wesley Uno
