As part of its continuing commitment to education and innovation in the book
arts, The Center is pleased to announce the launching of its Workspace Grant for
New York Emerging Artists.

Two award recipients will be offered space, time and support to explore the
production and exhibition of an editioned artistís book and related work. New
York-based emerging artists will have the opportunity to experiment and produce
work at The Center for a two-month period. The Center is committed to supporting
emerging artists. Artists from all cultural and artistic backgrounds are
encouraged to apply.

The Workspace Grant for Artists Program

The award includes individual studio space, a $500 cash stipend, full use of The
Centerís printing and binding facilities, up to $1000 materials budget, and an
opening reception and presentation of the artistís work in one of our gallery
cases as a Monthly Featured Artist. This includes an announcement of the exhibit
and a web page about the artistís work on The Centerís website. Other possible
opportunities to present their work to the public include a lecture or
performance as part of The Centerís Special Events calendar.

As part of the program, artists receive a tuition waiver for our workshop
Bookbinding for Artists, or an equivalent letterpress printing workshop. An
experienced printer and bookbinder will be available to advise the artists on
issues of materials and technique as they experiment with different book
structures and processes.
