hey folks, i have a question for everyone. apologies in advance if this has
already been discussed at some point -- i checked the archives and couldn't
really find anything about it, but maybe i missed something.

so, i was wondering if anyone knows anything about check
punches/protectors/protectographs/etc. basically check cancelers that
punch/perforate numbers or the word "paid" or whatever, as opposed to those
cancelers that use ink. does that make sense?

i've been trying to find something like this but haven't been too successful,
at least not in finding options that don't cost several hundred dollars either
because they're obscure antiques or big new high-tech machines.

so.... does anyone know about these things and where i might track one down?

thanks in advance,
molly
