ABOUT THE CENTER FOR BOOK ARTS

The Center for Book Arts is dedicated to the preservation of the
traditional crafts of bookmaking, as well as encouraging contemporary
interpretations of the book as an art object. Founded in 1974, it
was the first
not-for-profit organization of its kind in the nation. The Center
organizes exhibitions related to the art of the book and offers an
extensive selection of educational courses, workshops and seminars in
traditional and contemporary bookbinding, letterpress printing, fine
press publishing, and other associated arts. The Center for Book Arts
is supported by local businesses, various foundations, including the
NY State Council on the Arts and the Lenrow Rund, and by its members.
