Artists' Books Symposium
Friday, March 29, 2002, 1-5 p.m.
Charles E. Shain Library Charles Chu Asian Art Reading Room
Connecticut College

A gathering of internationally known book artists will take place at
Connecticut College on the afternoon of Friday, March 29, in the Charles
Chu Asian Arts Reading Room, the elegant new gallery, study and presentation

space on the main floor of Charles E. Shain Library.  Each artist will give
a presentation about an aspect of his or her work.  The artists who will be
presenting are Jim Lee, Robin Price, Marlene MacCallum, Scott McCarney,
Maureen Cummins, Dikko Faust and Esther K. Smith.  Suzy Taraba, Special
Collections Librarian at Wesleyan University, will speak about using
artists' books in the curriculum.  Accompanying the symposium will be an

exhibition of artists' books in the Connecticut College Library collection,
which will run from March 25 through May 17 in the library. The symposium
has been organized by Laurie M. Deredita, Special Collections Librarian,
and it is free and open to the public.
