Claudine-

You are looking for "Quiet Books." A search at Google.com will turn up
many ideas for, and sources of, all fabric books for children.

The name is two-fold; they don't rustle or make noise, so can be used in
church meetings and other places and not distract others, and they keep the
reader (usually juvenile) occupied and not fussing.

Typically they have removable items held on with snap fasteners that can
be put in pockets, things that button on or lace up--the limits are your
imagination.

good luck,

Tony Archer

After a recent trip to the Zoo with my nine month old, I am motivated to
try and make a book for him about Zoo Animals. Since he is so young, I
am trying to think of a book type that would work and last longer than a
day. Has anyone ever made cardboard baby books before or have any other
inventive ideas for a book that would be a little more indestructible
than a traditional book. Has anyone had luck with making entirely cloth
books? Any ideas would be appreciated.
