Greetings Book Arts and Letterpress Folks:

I've spent three days of the last week driving a state-owned white station
wagon from one corner of the sun-soaked State of Florida to the opposite
corner and back again. The hipster wagon was filled with book arts
treasures on loan from the Arthur and Mata Jaffe Collection to the
Pensacola Museum of Art for a fine exhibit, called "Books as Aesthetic
Objects." Those of you near Florida's panhandle are encouraged to visit the
museum. Many of the Jaffe Collection's finest pieces are there, through
June 8, 2002.

The exhibit features limited edition and one-of-a-kind books by a wide
range of book artists, well-known and obscure. Among those included are
Leonard Baskin, Susan Share, Tim Ely, Maureen Cummins, Julie Chen, Lyndi
Sales, Karen Kunc, Barry Moser.... lots more.

The Pensacola Museum of Art is located in the city's downtown historic
district at 407 South Jefferson, in a great old building that was once the
City Jail. The walls are solid and some bars remain. The PMA phone number
is 850 432 6247... you should contact the museum for hours. I believe an
opening is scheduled for this coming Friday evening (May 3).

There is no catalog of the exhibit available. If you'd like more
information on the exhibit, you'd do best to contact the museum at the
phone number above. But for more information on the Jaffe Collection
proper, just email me: <jcutrone@fau.edu>.

See you out there,
