Re: [BKARTS] what the heck is an altered book?

There is a Yahoo Newsgroup dedicated to the topic of altered books.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/alteredbooks/ They have 1938 members as of
this morning. Frequently they run RR Round Robins. Each person starts
altering a book and then it circulates to each person participating with
alterations made at each stop. The definition this group gives to an
altered books is:

An altered book is an existing book that has been changed or altered ....
"glued, painted, collaged, rubber stamped, cut, torn, or added to. It is an
expression of one's self, a piece of art, an experiment or a conversation
piece. Someone recently referred to the Altered Book List as the
"rescue-a-book society".

Members of this group have an additional yhaoo group for scans of the
resulting altered books http://groups.yahoo.com/group/alteredbookscans/
