Re: [BKARTS] Gilding Wheels and Glaire

Dear Bob,

I would suggest that you get a copy of John Mitchell's book "Gold Finishing", available from Talas. The book goes into detail on how to use a role, including mitering at the corners. It is an expensive book, but well worth the price.

Do you glaire the whole surface to be gilded, or have you had success tooling, painting in, and getting your wheel back in the same place? Are there certain kinds/colors of leather that, in your experience, tend to discolor when glaired all over?
