[BKARTS] book cloth

Trusted Book Arts People -
Does anyone know, when making book cloth, is grain direction important? I
had assumed that the grain direction of the paper should line up with the
selvages of the fabric, but does it really matter? I am doing the
traditional method of adhering fabric to Japanese washi paper with wheat
paste.

Thank you for your expertise,
Emily Reiser
