Re: [BKARTS] Austin, TX

About The University of Texas's special collections in the Harry Ranson
Center.

The holdings in photography are ravishing. The first permanent photograph,
a street scene recorded by Joseph Niepce in 1826, resides in the HRC. It
is part of the Gersheim Collection, a brilliant collection scanning all
the history of photography.

Another photographic collection I love there is the Goldbeck Collection of
panoramic photographs.

And then there is the Personal Effects Collection of items that belonged
to famous people. Like Anne Sexton's eyeglasses and E.A. Poe's hair brooch
and Evelyn Waugh's ink pen.

The HRC website will give lots of information about this amazing facility.
