Jules,

Laser printers do not have many different paths through the machine, as
copiers do. They still have their problems with grain but not so many that
you would want to print with the wrong grain direction for use in a book.
Grain direction affects almost every aspect of a book's behavior. Thus the
importance in proper grain direction.
