Hi Audrey,

I think that anyone who knows there stuff can look at someone's work and see whether that person is "qualified" for the job in question.
     Unfortunately the bulk of the people who look at these resumes for jobs can't see beyong their own shotcomings and limitations, and unconsciously protect their vaporous academic mystique based on their own very limited understanding.  Many of the people who are hired in "senior" positions are there because the highly skilled has learned from experience not to let their craft deteriorate in that kind of environment.
     If many of the institutions that have in-house censervation departments really knew the capabilities of their staff, they would be sending most of the important work out to private practice people.
