[BKARTS] BRIGHT HILL CENTER TO OFFER CALLIGRAPHY COURSE

        TREADWELL, NY  BRIGHT HILL CENTER will offer
an extended program of Anita Pfliederer's Calligraphy Workshop this spring.
The workshop sessions will take place Tuesday evenings from 7 - 8:30 p.m.
on April 8, 15, 22, 29, and May 6 at Bright Hill Center, 94 Church Street,
Treadwell, a block south of Route 14.
        The sessions will include the following topics:  using a chisel tip pen,
pen angle and its relationship to letter forms, letter and word spacing, ruling a
page, and majuscules (capitals).  Beginners and intermediate students are
welcome.  The fee for all five sessions is $75 for the public or $65 for
members of Bright Hill Press.
        Ms. Pfliederer studied fine art at Brooklyn College and at the
Brooklyn Museum Arts School. In the 1980s she studied calligraphy with
many well-known scribes, including Sheila Waters and Charles Pearce.
Before moving to Otego, she was a member of the Island Scribes of Long
Island, where she served on the board for six years and as president for two
years.  She was also a member of the Society of Scribes of New York City,
and her work has been exhibited in the New York Metropolitan area and in a
solo show at Bright Hill Center earlier this year. Her commercial works
include designs for "Home and Gardens" magazine, Anne Klein II, and the
New York City Board of Education.
