Hi:

I wonder if you would kindly pass this on to your contacts and readers. They
may find it useful.

I like your site.

Saturday, June 21st in the Expo Pavilion at the Chemainus Gardens
3042 River Road, Chemainus BC.

It gives me great pleasure to announce that Dan Poynter will be the major
speaker at the first Chemainus Literary Festival. Dan is a pioneer in the
self-publishing field and has been writing for many years.

Dan Poynter's seminars have been featured on CNN, his books have been
pictured in The Wall Street Journal, and his story has been told in U.S.
News & World Report. The media comes to him because he is the leading
authority on book marketing.

Dan emotionally charges audiences. His enthusiasm for his topic is
infectious. His examples and anecdotes cause people to come up with
breakthrough marketing ideas during his presentations. Participants are
always so charged up, they fly home!

Often described as "Mr. Publishing" Dan Poynter shows publishers how to sell
more books using some surprisingly simple marketing concepts. Since 1969, he
has personally experienced every facet of book publishing. His unique,
pioneering approach to book selling is detailed in his acclaimed book The
Self-Publishing Manual, now in a new revised edition.

Calendar:

9AM arrival, sign-in, networking and book sales, coffee/tea and goodies.

10.30-12.30 Dan Poynter on the new book model

12.30-1.30 A buffet lunch prepared by the Cowichan Valley Inn and a walk
around the garden and goldfish ponds, book sales continue.

1.30-3.30 Dan Poynter on writing non-fiction books and other aspects of
writing and publishing. There will be question and answer periods to ask Dan
questions.

3.30-4.00 tea and goodies and book sales.

At 4.00pm the Festival will be open to the general public.

4.00-4.45 Jim Bisakowski on book layout and local ways of dealing with
preparing a book.

4.45-5.30 Sandra Janssen. Getting Your Book Out There - Press Releases,
Media Kits and Alternative Markets.

Book sales will continue until 8.00pm at which point the Festival will
close.

Cost for the Festival is $85. This includes food and drink.

This is the first time that Dan Ponyter has been to the Island to present
his book workshop so don't miss this opportunity.

Seating is limited and the Festival will probably be a sell-out. There are
twenty banquet tables available for selling books and the first twenty
people to send their checks or money orders will be given these tables free
of charge.

There is room on two adjoining outside patios for card tables, and I suggest
that others bring one to use to sell books. Don't forget sun hats and
sunshades if you want to sell outside.

The Chemainus Gardens is situated a few minutes drive and a ten-minute walk
to downtown Chemainus. It is thirty-five acres of nature walks and goldfish
ponds, which makes it a wonderful place to sit and have an outside lunch and
meet new writers.

There is parking behind the Pavilion, outlets for recreation vehicles, and
camping areas. Contact The Gardens for a reservation: phone (250) 246-3569

There are also many bed and breakfasts in the area.

Email me at artsangels@shaw.ca and I will send you a Visitor's Cowichan
Valley Guide, which has maps, attractions, activities and accommodations.

Participants in the Festival will be asked to bring an unpublished article,
short story or poem, limit 1,500 words to compete for acceptance in the
first publication of the Chemainus Literary Festival 2003 book.

If you have questions phone toll free at 1-866-605-2604 or locally at (250)
