[BKARTS] TypeCon2003, Minneapolis, July 17-20

Greetings, all. I hope you are well and enjoying the weekend.

I wanted to let you all know that this year's TypeCon has a strong emphasis on the book arts and other traditional arts to complement the digital type and design programming.

TypeCon2003 includes five different letterpress workshops, as well as workshops on glass gilding, calligraphy, sign painting, and other traditional arts. Main program topics include book design and new typefaces, presented by Will Powers of the Minnesota Historical Press; presentations on the history of the Hamilton Wood Type and Printing Museum and their current projects; a presentation on W.A. Dwiggins by book designer and type designer Kent Lew, and much more.

The optional workshops fill up very quickly, so if you are interested in taking one of these classes, please register as soon as possible. An early-bird discount is available through April 30, and SOTA members get an additional discount offer conference admission.

Below is a press release about the event. Please feel free to contact me personally if you have any questions about SOTA or TypeCon. I hope to see some of you in Minneapolis this summer!

Cheers, Tamye
