I've occasionaly but rarely used Yes glue on paper where and when it was critical that there be minimal pull due to expansion and contraction.  I have an unscientific opinion that is would not be good for leather.  Because it has low water content one might not get the "slip" that is often required when covering, and if it is watered down a bit, I unscientifically guess that it's tack would be reduced.
