Fascinating, and just another attribute to add to all those of this amazing
man.  What imagination to take all the equipment, train the men, etc., etc.
to produce a complicated publication on such an expedition.  It sure beats
costume parties to keep the men upbeat.

And Scott's men were rained on with pony urine, as the ill-advised ponies he
brought along were housed on the deck above their quarters.

Not sure why, but the question about the Boy Scout book binding merit badge
made me think about Shackleton's expeditions to Antarctica, and the first
book
printed there.  A good mix of Scouting - adventure, craftsmanship and doing
something because you can.
