[BKARTS] Mare Blocker exhibition in Portland, OR

For immediate release:
---------------------------------
Exhibition announcement:

"Personal Myths & Private Magic: Bookworks of the MKimberly Press"

Northwest artist Mare Blocker, the proprietor of MKimberly Press, has been
making books and related works for 20 years. Her books are some of the most
creative, imaginative, and evocative work being produced today. They often
combine fabulous stories containing humor and tragedy--having texts set by
hand in letterpress--with wonderful hand-cut linoleum prints; she has
produced more than 30 editioned books, more than 300 one-of-a-kind titles,
and countless pieces of printed ephemera.

For more information on Mare Blocker's work, see http://mkimberlypress.com/.

The exhibition features all of the materials in the collection of the John
Wilson Room, the special collections of Multnomah County Library, along with
materials loaned by collectors, including the artist.

The exhibition is from December 18, 2003 through February 13 in the Collins
Gallery. There will be a public reading by the artist, "Storytime with
Mare," on Thursday, December 18 at 7:00 PM, and a public reception with the
artist on Thursday, January 29 at 7:00 PM.

The Collins Gallery is located on the third floor, Central Library,
Multnomah County Library, 801 SW 10th Avenue, Portland, OR 97205. The
Gallery's hours are Monday-Thursday: 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM; Friday and Saturday
9:00 AM - 6:00 PM; and Sunday 1:00 - 5:00 PM.
