National Artists' Books Forum
Friday 6 February 2004
Artspace Mackay

"A book is more than a book when it becomes a work of art. Over the past
century books have become a major vehicle for artistic expression. Artists
have transformed something common into something extraordinary by
summoning images that transcend the literary content of a written or
printed text to create a totality that surpasses individual parts."

Donna Stein, When a Book is more than a Book, Artists' Books in the Modern
Era 1870-2000
