[BKARTS] Marbling Workshop in Arizona

Two Day Marbling Workshop

Saturday, April 3 and Sunday, April 4

Learn the art of marbling with artist Paula Gourley from Eugene, Oregon. This two day workshop will cover the history of marbling, classical techniques, traditional patterns, and also give you time to experiment.

Marbling is the art of decorating paper or cloth with multi-colored swirled or stone-like patterns. The patterns are formed by first floating the colors on the surface of a liquid, and then laying the paper or fabric onto the colors to absorb them.

The workshop will be held at Arizona State University, Tempe, Arizona, and is sponsored by ABBA (A Buncha Book Artists).

Paula Gourley holds an MFA with concentration in fine bookbinding. She also studied fine binding at l'Ecole Nationale Superieure des Arts Visuels de la Cambre in Belgium. She developed and taught the bookbinding curriculum for the University of Alabama's MFA Program in the Book Arts.
