[BKARTS] MCBA - call for artist mentors

MINNESOTA CENTER FOR BOOK ARTS (MCBA)
BY DESIGN TEEN ARTIST MENTORING PROGRAM

CALL FOR ARTIST MENTORS:
Interested in sharing your experience and skills with a young book artist?
MCBA's By Design program is seeking artists and writers to serve as mentors
for teen artists starting in mid-June. Mentors will work with individual
teen artists and/or small groups; an honorarium will be provided.

If interested, attend the By Design reception at MCBA on Saturday, June 5,
5-9 p.m. Meet the students and ask them about their work and aspirations.
Or, call 612.215.2535, leave your contact information and let us know you¹d
like to be involved.

BY DESIGN PROGRAM:
By Design is a two-phase teen artist development and mentoring program.

* Phase I is offered in three, 10-week sessions each year (Fall, Spring and
Summer) for teen artists and writers interested in expanding their
creativity, broadening their studio art experiences and expressing
themselves through the book arts. Students pay a small tuition to take
intensive classes and learn the basics. Each session ends with an exhibition
of student work.

* Phase II provides selected teens with apprenticeship in the book arts and
matches them with artist mentors to further develop artistic techniques.
Apprentices receive a monthly stipend for supplies and free access to
studios and equipment.

* All By Design teen artists are invited to participate in annual juried
exhibitions.
