A Catalogue Librarian here at one of our Libraries is trying to find the
Portuguese word for shellac, in describing a book. Any help out there?

The standard Portuguese term is "goma-laca". Shellac occasionally appears
as "verniz de goma-laca e álcool" which merely describes shellac as a
coating or "varnish" of lac resin and alcohol.
