Re: [BKARTS] Patriot Act flack

Hello, Book Artists...

Re: this increasingly bizarre case...

I have to say, if this turns out to be just as Dean suggests:

"...instead they are investigating the use of biological labratory
equipment in a residence."

I would have to agree... that IS a proper role of the government. For instance: I
wouldn't like to live next door to a Meth lab and have the Feds NOT look into it.

Anyway, IF it turns out that Dean is correct, his statement:

"Thus, to claim that this incident is the suppresion of art by
goverment, in anyway shape or form, is, in my opinion, simply silly."

...would ring true to me... just the same as it would in cases when the prosecution of an
offender who happens to be of certain ethnic origin(s) is automatically deemed by some to
be racist, or "racial profiling". It doesn't automatically follow that because they haul an artist
in, its because they don't like the politics of his art, or don't deem that it IS art.

But, what heavy handedness! The guy is in mourning! Subpoenas! Good
grief! This is a
horrible, no good, very bad development. The Feds are like bulls in the
china shop.
Man, talk about opening Pandora's storage unit... looks like we might be
heading right into
Pandora's secret Government Warehouse!

Woe is us. Well, gird up your loins and stand fast fellow Artists ALL~
makers of beauty OR
of icky stuff. Don't flinch... surely there are more of us than there
are of them!?

I wish you subpoena-ees the best wishes I can wish...

Rebecca
