Bill,

I believe John was speaking of embossing which uses two dies. The bottom die
or counter die pushes into the board usually very thin from the under side.
This thin board is to hold the impression and is not the cover board.

Embossing is raised as opposed to hot stamping which is pressed in. To keep
this embossing from flattening, Try putting a fairly heavy application of
flexible animal glue (it cools quickly), to the underside of the embossing; just
enough to fill it. place a piece of Kraft paper over the glue and let it cool.
This should do the trick.
