[BKARTS] Book Art event in Atlanta



Artist Jill Timm will present lectures and two tunnel-book workshops in
Atlanta next week.

Jill will speak at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 21, in the Jones Room
on the 3rd floor of the Robert W. Woodruff Library at Emory Univ. and
again at 6 p.m. on Friday, October 22, at the Atlanta College of Art.

An exhibit of Jill's work is on display in the Schatten Gallery of
Woodruff Library, October 11 through November 24, 2004.

Jill will teach tunnel-books in a one-day workshop offered twice (on
Saturday, Oct. 23, and Sunday Oct. 24, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Participants will learn to make 3-dimensional books. Basic book-making
techniques will be used to make a prototype and then a polished and
stunning finished book. The workshop is open to anyone, NO experience
necessary. All materials will be provided.

Registration fee = $60.00 (includes a materials fee of $20.) (SE GBW
members get a $10.00 discount).

Jill Timm is a full-time book artist creating small editions of
hand-crafted books that portray the spirit and aesthetics of the natural
environment.  She uses interesting structures and non-typical materials
to convey the essence of the place or subject.  Ms. Timm has a varied
background in graphic design, photography, teaching, marketing, and
business, and all have come together in her press, Mystical Places
Press.  www.mysticalplaces.com  Listed in Who's Who Among Young American
Professionals and Who's Who in California, Jill has rightfully earned a
good share of awards and professional achievements for her work.  Her
most recent is the 2004 Distinguished Book Award presented by the
international organization, the Miniature Book Society. She has work in
many collections across North America.
