Unfortunately, these designations (A15C, A4M, A4C) are not universal but
depend on the manufacturer. They can specify several average parameters
of the substance, including molecular length, degree of substitution
(i.e. how "methyl-y" it is), viscosity of a particular strength
solution, or even alternative side groups (i.e. methylcellulose vs.
methylhydroxyethylcellulose vs. carboxymethylcellulose vs....).
As a result trying to match them to any other supplier's methyl
cellulose products can be very difficult.
