Join the American Printing History Association in the San Francisco
Bay Area for its annual conference from September 22-23, 2005. The
conference will convene in San Francisco at the historic Sir Francis
Drake Hotel on Thursday evening with keynote speaker Geoffrey
Nunberg, professor of linguistics at Stanford University. On Friday,
participants will enjoy a full day of conference papers and panels at
Mills College. A partial list of speakers and presenters includes Jon
Bath, Stanley Boorman, Barbara Brannon, Alastair Johnston, Peter
Rutledge Koch, Kitty Maryatt, Will Powers, Kenneth Price, Jennifer
Schaffner, Paul Shaw, Elysa Voshell, and Philip Weimerskirch. They
will address a range of topics from music printing in the sixteenth

collograph printing, a demonstration of laser cutting, and an
opportunity for conference attendees to print their own keepsake
using both a Vandercook and the 1860 Albion handpress.

Although the conference ends on Friday evening, participants may also
join fellow APHAns for optional events on Saturday, including the
annual Lieberman Memorial Lecture. On Saturday afternoon, the
University of San Francisco's Gleeson Library will host our 2005
Lieberman Lecture, to be given by printing historian Richard-Gabriel
Rummonds on the topic "Abandoned by a Married Man: the Long and
Torturous Path to the Iron Handpress" .
