[BKARTS] Minnesota Center for Book Arts Announces Plane & Form: Contemporary Handmade Paper



Minnesota Center for Book Arts (MCBA) is pleased to announce our upcoming exhibition.  Plane & Form: Contemporary Handmade Paper, curated by MCBA?s Artistic Director Jeff Rathermel, offers visitors the opportunity to experience the versatility of handmade paper. Emphasis is placed on contemporary applications of a traditional medium in this show, where installation, sculpture, pulp painting and assemblage are displayed. Artists to be shown include: Grimanesa Amoros, Nancy Cohen, Georgia Deal, Joan Giordano, Margaret Lanzetta, Beth Levin, Jacqueline Mallegni, Kim Matthews, Julie McLaughlin, Ellen Mears Kennedy, Jill Powers, John Risseeuw, Drew Shiflett, Robbin Ami Silverberg, Jennifer Spoon, Lynn Sures, Alice Van Leunen, Mona Waterhouse, Beck Whitehead and Therese Zemlin.

Family Day: Handmade Paper Wall Hangings
Saturday December 3, 9:30 am to 12:30 pm
Make paper wall hangings and add beautiful designs by painting them with colorful pulp.  This free, drop-in, all ages workshop is open to the public.	

Plane & Form Gallery Talk
Tuesday, January 17, 7 to 9 pm
As part of MCBA?s Book Arts Roundtable series, a gallery talk will be offered by the curator Jeff Rathermel and local paper artists Marjorie Alexander, Erica Rasmussen and Bridget O?Malley.  The artists will discuss their work as well as the role of handmade paper in contemporary art.

Gallery Hours are Tuesday 10 am to 9 pm, Wednesday-Saturday 10 am to 5 pm, Sunday and Monday we are closed.  Gallery and events are free and open to the public.  For more information, visit www.mnbookarts.org or call 612.215.2520.
